THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Dragonslayer stands as a towering high-water mark for dark 1980s fantasy, boasting what remains one of cinema's most terrifying and magnificently realized dragons in Vermithrax Pejorative. Matthew Robbins eschews polished fairytale tropes in favor of dirt, moral complexity, and striking practical stop-motion effects. It is a mature, atmospheric masterpiece that genre fans must not overlook.
