THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Despite a striking physical performance from Brigitte Nielsen and Arnold Schwarzenegger's formidable presence, Red Sonja struggles under clumsy direction and a derivative script. Ennio Morricone's heroic score provides genuine gravitas, but the film ultimately fails to capture the raw energy of its comic book source material. It survives primarily as a curious footnote in the 1980s fantasy craze.
