THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Shifting the sound-hunting alien invasion to the claustrophobic streets of Manhattan, this prequel grounds horror spectacle in intimate, poignant human survival. Lupita Nyong'o gives a commanding, tender performance that elevates the tension with profound emotional resonance. It is a terrifying and surprisingly soulful expansion of the franchise.
