Riddick is the third film in David Twohy's Pitch Black trilogy, sending Vin Diesel's fugitive back to his roots — betrayed, stranded on a hostile planet, and hunted by mercenaries who discover too late that they've brought him exactly the fight he wants. It deliberately strips away the epic scale of The Chronicles of Riddick to rebuild the character as a bare-knuckle survivor.
