The Death of Robin Hood
June 18, 2026 on Prime Video
The Death of Robin Hood is Michael Sarnoski's grim reinvention of the legend, with Hugh Jackman as an aging outlaw whose life of crime and murder has finally caught up with him — gravely wounded after a battle he thought would be his last, he's offered a chance at salvation in the hands of a mysterious woman. It strips the folklore back to a hard, meditative character study in the spirit of Sarnoski's Pig, trading heroics for reckoning. In Action Legends it stands as one of the boldest myth reimaginings in the collection — the legend told not as adventure, but as an accounting.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Stripping away the romantic folklore, Michael Sarnoski offers a grim, meditative look at a legendary outlaw confronting his own violent legacy. Hugh Jackman delivers a raw and somber performance that grounds the film's brooding atmosphere. It is a compellingly dark reinvention for viewers fatigued by glossy blockbusters.
