Greyhound is Aaron Schneider's lean WWII convoy thriller, with Tom Hanks — who also wrote the screenplay — as a first-time captain steering thousands of Allied soldiers through the Black Pit, the mid-Atlantic stretch where no air cover can reach and Nazi U-boats hunt for five straight days. The film strips naval warfare down to procedure and pressure: sonar pings, hard calls, and the crushing weight of command. In Action Legends it earns its place as one of the purest war films in the collection — all tension, no fat.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Tom Hanks crafts an exceptionally lean and relentless WWII thriller that dispenses with unnecessary backstory in favor of pure naval strategy. The film captures the harrowing paranoia of the Battle of the Atlantic with authentic detail and non-stop tension. At a tight ninety minutes, it is a masterclass in focused historical storytelling.
