The Instigators

The Instigators reunites Doug Liman and Matt Damon for a Boston-set heist comedy gone wrong: Damon's desperate father Rory and Casey Affleck's fast-talking ex-con Cobby botch a robbery, then go on the run with an unusual accomplice — Rory's therapist. The fun is the mismatch at the core, Damon and Affleck bouncing off each other while the plan collapses around them. In Action Legends it's the breezy outlier — a heist movie where the getaway doubles as a midlife crisis.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Doug Liman delivers a relaxed, Boston-set heist comedy that relies on the natural star power and comedic rapport of Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. While the central robbery plot follows familiar tracks, Hong Chau steals scenes as a therapist pulled into the chaos. It makes for an entertaining, comfortable weekend watch.
