THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Stephan James delivers a poised performance as Jesse Owens in a biopic that dutifully chronicles his historic four-gold victory at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. While the film adheres to a fairly standard sports-biopic template, its exploration of political tension and systemic racism gives it genuine moral weight. It serves as a solid, respectful tribute to one of athletics' most legendary figures.
