Jerry Maguire
December 13, 1996 in theaters
Jerry Maguire used to be a typical sports agent: willing to do just about anything he could to get the biggest possible contracts for his clients, plus a nice commission for himself. Then, one day, he suddenly has second thoughts about what he's really doing. When he voices these doubts, he ends up losing his job and all of his clients, save Rod Tidwell, an egomaniacal football player.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Cameron Crowe's 1996 classic captures Tom Cruise at the peak of his movie-star charm in a story that blends sports-industry satire with genuine romantic warmth. Quotable to a fault and buoyed by star-making turns from Cuba Gooding and Renee Zellweger, it interrogates corporate cynicism without losing its big heart. It remains a quintessential studio masterpiece of late-1990s Hollywood.
