THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Steve James's monumental documentary follows two Chicago teens over five years as they pursue professional basketball dreams amidst systemic barriers. Extensive in scope and profoundly human, it transcends the sports genre to become a landmark work of American sociology. It is widely considered one of the greatest documentary films ever made.
