THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Ed Harris and Cuba Gooding star in this 1970s-set true story of a small-town football coach who befriends a mentally disabled young man. While Gooding's earnest performance earned attention, the film often relies heavily on sentimental tropes to tug at heartstrings. It is a well-meaning, traditional crowd-pleaser for inspirational drama fans.
