THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Robert Aldrich's 1974 original stars Burt Reynolds at his peak as a disgraced quarterback organizing inmates against sadistic prison guards. Laced with anti-establishment cynicism, brutal gridiron hits, and sharp dark humor, it remains a landmark of 1970s American cinema. It is a tough, cynical, and wildly entertaining classic.
