THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck deliver a compassionate, unvarnished look at the immigrant experience through the lens of minor league baseball talent scouting. Algenis Perez Soto gives a magnificent performance as a young Dominican pitcher confronting language barriers, isolation, and shattered dreams. It is a profound, deeply empathetic sports movie that looks far beyond the stadium lights.
