THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

The film that cemented Eddie Murphy as a global megastar, Martin Brest's action comedy blends gritty Detroit crime with razor-sharp culture-clash humor. Murphy's sheer charisma and improvised riffs drive a brisk, incredibly fun story backed by an iconic synth soundtrack. It remains a quintessential piece of eighties cinema that defined a genre.
