THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

A masterclass in creature-feature filmmaking, Ron Underwood's desert thriller pits Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward against subterranean maneating worms in an isolated Nevada town. With sharp character dynamics, clever suspense, and pristine practical effects, it squeezes immense fun from a classic b-movie premise. It remains one of the most rewatchable sci-fi horror comedies ever produced.
