THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
An objectively flawed film that somehow transcends its flaws completely -- a fantasy about immortal swordsmen dueling through history, soundtracked by Queen at their most operatic, directed by Russell Mulcahy with music-video energy that suits the material perfectly. Christopher Lambert is improbably charismatic as Connor MacLeod, Sean Connery steals every scene he occupies as the Spanish-Egyptian Ramirez, and Clancy Brown's Kurgan is one of cinema's great sneering heavies. There can be only one, and somehow this is it.
