DID YOU KNOW?
Robin Williams improvised many of his scenes with the lost boys, leading to several extended takes that threatened the production schedule.
THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Spielberg's most divisive film and also, for an entire generation, one of the most important -- a film about remembering joy that hit differently depending entirely on where you were in life when you first saw it. Robin Williams is at his most physically committed, Dustin Hoffman's Captain Hook is theatrical gold, and the lost boys sequences have a genuine warmth that the film's critics tend to dismiss too quickly. It is flawed, overlong, and completely sincere in a way that wears you down into affection.
