THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A love letter to arcade culture and 1980s science fiction that earns its sincerity completely. Lance Guest plays Alex Rogan with genuine earnestness, and the film understands that the fantasy of being chosen for something extraordinary is more compelling than any special effect. The CGI was groundbreaking for 1984 -- the first film to use computer-generated imagery for principal space sequences -- and the adventure itself delivers exactly what the premise promises.
