THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The sequel arrives with noticeably more confidence and personality — Karl Urban's Johnny Cage brings the franchise a self-aware energy it had been holding back, and the ensemble that was still finding its footing in 2021 operates here with real chemistry. Simon McQuoid expands the world without losing the brutality that defined the reboot, and the film delivers on most of what the first installment promised. Whether it fully cements the franchise's long-term ambitions will take some distance to assess, but as a follow-up it clears the bar comfortably. A worthy second chapter for a series that now has momentum worth watching.
