Ridley Scott adapts Peter Heller's beloved 2012 novel, a post-apocalyptic survival story with a poet's soul. Jacob Elordi stars as Hig, a pilot holding on to humanity in emptied-out Colorado alongside his dog and a gruff survivalist (Josh Brolin), with Margaret Qualley and Guy Pearce rounding out the cast. For Scott fans it is a gentler register: less Alien, more The Martian.
