The famously shelved Looney Tunes hybrid finally reached theaters, and it proved worth the fight. Dave Green directs a live-action/animation comedy in which Wile E. Coyote sues the ACME Corporation over decades of defective products, with Will Forte as his attorney alongside Lana Condor and John Cena. A rare family comedy built on classic cartoon chaos and a genuinely clever courtroom premise.

Coyote vs. Acme Finally Gets Its Release Date — August 28

Coyote vs. Acme has one of the stranger backstories in recent Hollywood history. Warner Bros. initially shelved the completed film in 2023 as a tax write-off, sparking widespread outrage from animators, fans, and the creative community. After sustained public pressure and a bidding war, the film was rescued and is now heading to theaters August 28. The premise is exactly what it sounds like: Wile E. Coyote, fed up with a lifetime of defective Acme products, hires a billboard lawyer (Will Forte) and sues the corporation. John Cena, Lana Condor, and Tone Bell round out the live-action cast. Rated PG -- this one has been a long time coming.
