Live-Action Moana Hits Theaters Tomorrow — Here Is What to Know
Disney's live-action Moana opens July 10, and it arrives with serious creative credentials. Catherine Laga'aia steps into the title role, with Dwayne Johnson returning as the demigod Maui -- the same role he voiced in the 2016 original. Directed by Thomas Kail, the man behind Hamilton on Broadway and its Disney+ film adaptation, this is not a shot-for-shot remake. New songs, new scenes, and an expanded world built around the same core journey: Moana sailing beyond the reef to restore what was lost. Johnson's return alone makes it an event. The rest of the cast is worth watching. Opens July 10, rated PG.
