THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The franchise's finest film since Casino Royale and, for many viewers, its finest film entirely. The collaboration with a cinematographer of Roger Deakins' caliber produces images the series had never achieved, and the film earns those images with a story that takes the cost of Bond's existence seriously. Javier Bardem's Silva is the series' most compelling villain in decades. A film that transcended its genre without abandoning it.
