THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

The Moore era settling into comfort without urgency. The Indian locations are spectacular and the production design is typically generous, but the film's tonal mix of comedy and nuclear threat is uneasy, and the clown sequence remains one of the series' more contested choices. Maud Adams is one of the few Bond characters given genuine agency. A film that coasts on craft and goodwill more than dramatic invention.
