The Bhutan monastery sequences were filmed in Germany using handcrafted set design inspired by Himalayan Buddhist architecture.

THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

A course correction that partially works. The third film restores some of the charm of the original by returning its focus to character dynamics and dialing back the expository overload of its predecessor. The Bhutan sequences have genuine visual beauty. But the franchise never fully recovered the goodwill it lost, and the muted commercial response effectively ended the planned five-film arc. A film that arrived too late to rescue what it was trying to save.
