THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The franchise's most tonally ambitious entry in its middle period -- a film that uses the tournament structure to introduce genuine physical danger, genuine death, and genuine moral weight. The Triwizard sequences are impressively staged, and the climax achieves a darkness the earlier films carefully avoided. It is also one of the most sprawling entries, which occasionally works against its momentum. The point of no return for a series that had been moving steadily toward it.
