The sequel that defined the franchise's excesses. Longer, louder, and less coherent than its predecessor, with action sequences that prioritize visual density over legibility. The humor is the most critically cited weakness, and fairly so. It was still a massive commercial success, which says something about audience appetite for spectacle even when story takes a back seat. A film that revealed the ceiling of the formula it was operating within.
