THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A remarkably faithful adaptation that understood its source material's essential quality -- kinetic, colorful, and almost entirely about the pleasure of forward momentum -- and replicated it in film form with more craft than expected. The voice cast is mostly well-deployed, the visual world is generous in its detail, and the film earns its fan-service moments by building genuine affection first. Not a film with much to say beyond what it shows, but what it shows is done with real love for the material.
