"Isn't that a little bit hypocritical?"
DID YOU KNOW?
The film is widely considered the weakest entry in the franchise -- even the filmmakers have acknowledged it didn't live up to expectations.
THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The entry where the franchise first seemed to run out of things to say. The Arthurian setting is underdeveloped and the film's core conflict -- Shrek's fear of fatherhood -- is resolved without the emotional weight the first two films established. The supporting cast is given more screen time and less to do. A functional but noticeably diminished sequel that confirmed the series had peaked at two.
