THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A fourth entry that arrived after a seemingly definitive conclusion and found something genuinely new to say. Woody's arc -- questioning his purpose outside the context of a child who needs him -- is the most adult theme the franchise has explored, and the antique shop setting provides a visual and tonal richness the series hadn't previously found. The ending is more ambiguous and more honest than the franchise's prior resolutions. Better than it needed to be and more affecting than expected.
