The most credible Terminator film since T2, in part because it treats the original as its only true predecessor. James Cameron's return as producer and the choice to bring back Linda Hamilton give the film an emotional grounding the intervening entries lacked, and the new characters carry genuine weight. It isn't a perfect film -- the structure follows the template too closely -- but it understands what made the first two work in a way that none of the intervening sequels managed.
