An ambitious but overstuffed attempt to relaunch the franchise by rewriting its own timeline. The film's willingness to subvert established lore is more interesting in theory than in execution, and the marketing's early reveal of its central twist removed the one genuine surprise the story had. Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney have chemistry that the script never adequately supports. A reminder that nostalgia and ingenuity are not the same thing.
