THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A sequel that had no business being as good as it is -- a film that extends the original's philosophical concerns into new territory without diminishing them. Ryan Gosling's K is a deliberately quieter protagonist than Deckard, and the film uses that quiet to build something genuinely contemplative. Roger Deakins' cinematography is among the decade's finest, and the film earns its runtime by sustaining a mood rather than filling it with incident. One of the most serious and accomplished science fiction films of its era.
