THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Parabellum picks up mid-chase and barely pauses, which is both its strength and its limitation. The action sequences escalate to baroque levels of invention -- horses, dogs, motorcycles, a library -- and the choreography remains committed to visible physical cause and effect. The mythology expands further, occasionally at the expense of forward momentum. A film more interested in the world it is building than the story it is telling, which works better than it should.
