Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation
July 28, 2015 in theaters
Ethan Hunt goes rogue to expose the Syndicate -- a network of disavowed international operatives functioning as a shadow mirror of the IMF -- while the CIA works simultaneously to shut the IMF down. The fifth film in the franchise introduces Ilsa Faust as a major recurring figure and tightens the ensemble dynamic.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Rogue Nation matches Ghost Protocol stride for stride and arguably surpasses it on story. Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust is the best new addition to the franchise since its inception -- a character whose loyalties and motivations remain genuinely uncertain throughout. The opera house sequence is a masterclass in cross-cutting tension. The direction is precise without being cold, and the film's confidence in its own craft is evident in every set piece.
