THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A genuinely surprising achievement -- a legacy sequel that not only justifies its existence but surpasses its predecessor on almost every level. The aerial sequences are among the most technically accomplished action filmmaking of the decade, and Cruise's commitment to practical production is palpable on screen. More than that, the film earns its emotional beats through character rather than nostalgia. A reminder that blockbuster cinema can still do something no other format can.
