DID YOU KNOW?
Tom Cruise trained for months to handle the G-forces in real fighter jets -- the actors actually flew during aerial sequences.
THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A sleek, unapologetically high-gloss film that succeeded on pure energy and correctly identified Tom Cruise as a generational star. The aerial photography is spectacular, the soundtrack is pinned to its exact moment in time, and the film asks nothing of its audience beyond the pleasure of watching extraordinarily talented people do extraordinary things. It has never pretended to be more than it is, which is probably why it has endured.
