THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The conclusion of the trilogy that chose scale over coherence and arrived at something grandiose and uneven in roughly equal measure. The Calypso mythology and the final battle sequence are the franchise at its most operatic, and the film earns moments of genuine emotional weight amid the noise. At nearly three hours it asks more patience than it repays, but the closing sequence for Will Turner lands with real feeling. A film that takes on too much and occasionally finds something memorable inside the excess.
