THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A sequel that pivots from island adventure to gothic horror halfway through, and the tonal ambition is more interesting than the execution. The Isla Nublar opening sequence is among the strongest in the Jurassic World era, and the mansion-set second half has genuine atmosphere. But the story logic strains under its own contrivances, and the film's ending -- setting dinosaurs loose on the mainland -- promises a reckoning the follow-up largely fails to deliver.
