THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The leanest and most unpretentious entry in the original trilogy -- a straightforward rescue film that knows exactly what it is and doesn't overreach. Without Spielberg's direction the visual scale is reduced, but the Pteranodon aviary sequence and the Spinosaurus introduction are legitimately effective. Sam Neill's return as Grant is welcome, if underwritten. Modest by franchise standards, but honest about its ambitions.
