The franchise's most recent entry consolidates the Afterlife approach -- returning cast, new threats, New York restored as the primary setting -- with mixed results. The Garraka is a visually distinctive antagonist and the ghost-library sequence is the film's best scene. The ensemble is now large enough that individual characters compete for space, and the film's tonal range is wider than its focus. A competent continuation that serves its audience without particularly challenging it.
