DID YOU KNOW?
Hugh Jackman played Wolverine for 17 years before Logan -- the longest run for a Marvel character in films.
THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The definitive Wolverine film and one of the best comic book adaptations made — James Mangold strips the character back to his function as a western antihero and builds a road movie about what happens to violent men when they get old. Jackman's performance is the best of his seventeen-year run in the role, and Dafne Keen matches him scene for scene without effort. The R rating matters not for the gore but for the emotional permission it grants — this is a film allowed to be sad, and it earns every moment of that. Nothing in the Fox Marvel catalog came close, and it remains the standard for what a character-first superhero film can be.
PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
Where this fits in the larger story
Logan belongs to Marvel's wider screen history, outside a single clean continuity unless the record clearly connects it to the MCU. It adapts familiar Marvel characters through its own branch of superhero, fantasy, or action storytelling. Its placement helps viewers understand how this title fits the broader Marvel xVERSE while keeping separate continuities from being blended together.
