Elektra

THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Elektra arrives as a spin-off without the goodwill its source character had earned and struggles to generate much of its own. Jennifer Garner brings physical presence to the role and commits to the action, but the screenplay softens the moral complexity that made Elektra interesting in the Daredevil film, substituting a more conventional protector arc in its place. The Hand mythology is expanded here in ways the later Netflix Daredevil series would revisit far more effectively. It is competently assembled and difficult to remember — a film that treats its lead as a function of the plot rather than the reason for it.

Elektra sits in Marvel's pre-MCU or non-MCU screen legacy, adapting comic-book characters through a separate continuity. It connects Marvel's larger history of heroes, antiheroes, and experiments in genre storytelling before the modern shared universe became dominant. Its placement helps viewers understand this title as part of the wider Marvel xVERSE without treating it as core MCU canon.
