Spider-Man Strikes Back
December 21, 1978 in theaters
At the New York State University, one of Peter Parker's tutors has accidentally given three students all the materials they need to create an atomic bomb. While Peter Parker tries to find out what's happened, the police suspect him of the crime, and Peter has to deal with an attractive journalist determined to get an interview with Spider-Man. Then dastardly millionaire Mr. White shows up, and will stop at nothing to get his hands on the atomic bomb. Spider-Man must defeat this scheming villain and stop him blowing up the World Trade Centre.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Spider-Man Strikes Back is the second of the CBS Spider-Man feature compilations — a TV adventure that grafts an atomic bomb plot onto its superhero framework with the relaxed confidence of a series that knows its audience. Nicholas Hammond remains an appealing Peter Parker, and the film manages the dual-identity mechanics with more care than strictly necessary for a mid-budget 1970s production. The threat is generic and the pacing modest, but the film delivers what it was built to deliver: accessible superhero adventure for a broad television audience, at a moment when that audience had almost no other options.
PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
Where this fits in the larger story
Spider-Man Strikes Back belongs to Sony's Spider-Man film history, separate from the main MCU continuity unless a later crossover explicitly connects it. It explores Peter Parker's world, villains, and personal responsibilities through its own version of Spider-Man mythology. Its placement helps viewers track this branch alongside the MCU and animated Spider-Verse without blending them into one timeline.
