The Fantastic Four
June 1, 1994 in theaters
Roger Corman produced this low-budget Fantastic Four film in 1994 solely to retain the Marvel film rights before they expired. It was never officially released theatrically -- the cast and crew were not informed of this intent. Bootleg VHS copies circulated for years before it became a cult curiosity. The film was officially suppressed and is considered one of the most notorious unreleased films in Hollywood history.

PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
Where this fits in the larger story
The Fantastic Four belongs to Marvel's Fantastic Four screen legacy, separate from the main MCU continuity unless a later entry establishes otherwise. It connects Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm with Marvel's tradition of family-driven science adventure. Its placement helps viewers distinguish earlier Fantastic Four adaptations from the team's future role in Marvel's connected cinematic timeline.
