The Death of the Incredible Hulk

THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

The Death of the Incredible Hulk is the third and final CBS reunion movie, and it functions as a genuine conclusion to Bill Bixby's long and quietly distinguished run as David Banner. The espionage framework is perfunctory, but the film's emotional core — Banner facing the possibility of finally being free of the Hulk, and what that freedom costs — is handled with care. Bixby brings a weight to his final performance that the television movie format rarely earns, and the ending remains one of the more affecting moments in Marvel's pre-MCU catalog. A proper farewell to a character and a performer who deserved one.

The Death of the Incredible Hulk sits in Marvel's pre-MCU or non-MCU screen legacy, adapting comic-book characters through a separate continuity. It connects Marvel's larger history of heroes, antiheroes, and experiments in genre storytelling before the modern shared universe became dominant. Its placement helps viewers understand this title as part of the wider Marvel xVERSE without treating it as core MCU canon.
