The Trial of the Incredible Hulk
May 7, 1989 in theaters
Falsely accused of assault, Dr. David Banner is arrested and placed on trial, facing the possibility of a long prison sentence. Blind attorney Matt Murdock takes on his defence, while secretly operating as the vigilante Daredevil. As the courtroom battle unfolds, Banner’s struggle to control the Hulk leads to a dangerous confrontation with criminal mastermind Wilson Fisk.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
The Trial of the Incredible Hulk is notable primarily as the first live-action appearance of Daredevil, presented here as a black-suited vigilante lawyer in a CBS TV movie that has little relation to either character's comics origins beyond the broad premise. Bill Bixby carries the emotional weight with his customary dignity, and the courtroom framework gives the film a structure the other reunion movies lack. The Daredevil design is historically interesting if not faithful, and Wilson Fisk's appearance establishes a villain connection that the Netflix series would eventually realize far more fully. A genuine crossover curiosity.
PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
Where this fits in the larger story
The Trial of the Incredible Hulk sits in Marvel's pre-MCU or non-MCU screen legacy, adapting comic-book characters through a separate continuity. It connects Marvel's larger history of heroes, antiheroes, and experiments in genre storytelling before the modern shared universe became dominant. Its placement helps viewers understand this title as part of the wider Marvel xVERSE without treating it as core MCU canon.
