Kraven the Hunter

THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Kraven the Hunter is a film in search of a reason to exist. Aaron Taylor-Johnson commits fully to a physical and intense performance that the screenplay never adequately supports, and the origin story grafted onto the character bears little resemblance to what makes Kraven compelling in the source material. The action is competent, the villain dynamics are thin, and the attempt to frame Kraven as a morally complex antihero never develops beyond the premise. It arrived at the tail end of Sony's Spider-Man-adjacent experiment and feels exactly like that — a production that ran out of road before it ran out of runtime.

Kraven the Hunter sits in Sony's Spider-Man-adjacent live-action universe, a branch that explores characters connected to Spider-Man mythology outside the core MCU path. It connects antiheroes, villains, and side-corners of Marvel lore with a separate continuity focused on darker or stranger character arcs. Its placement helps viewers distinguish this lane from MCU Spider-Man and the animated Spider-Verse.
