Spider-Noir
May 25, 2026 on Prime Video
Ben Reilly is a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who once operated as the city’s only superhero, the Spider. The noir-inflected series explores a Spider-Man continuity disconnected from the MCU, built around crime, shadow, memory, and pulp detective fiction.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Spider-Noir is a stylistically confident series that commits to its 1930s noir setting without hedging toward more familiar superhero rhythms. Nicolas Cage's Ben Reilly is weathered and self-aware in ways that complement rather than clash with the period tone, and the show's visual language — desaturated, shadow-heavy, unhurried — is consistent enough to feel like a genuine aesthetic choice rather than a production constraint. The first season establishes its world more than it resolves it, and some plot mechanics move slowly. But as an exercise in transplanting a superhero identity into a genre it was not designed for, it is more successful than its premise might suggest.
PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
Where this fits in the larger story
Spider-Noir belongs to Marvel's wider screen history, outside a single clean continuity unless the record clearly connects it to the MCU. It adapts familiar Marvel characters through its own branch of superhero, fantasy, or action storytelling. Its placement helps viewers understand how this title fits the broader Marvel xVERSE while keeping separate continuities from being blended together.

Nic Cage needs to find his way into more cinematic universes. This is legit fun and builds the emotion as quickly as it gets you into the action. Great show!
