Peacemaker — Season 2
August 21, 2025 on Max
After the events of Superman, Christopher Smith discovers an alternate reality where he is celebrated as a hero and reunited with the family he lost. Season 2 uses that impossible second chance to push Peacemaker deeper into the new DCU, testing whether his growth can survive a world built from everything he still wants.

THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
Peacemaker Season 2 confirms that the character works best when the show leans into the discomfort of finding someone genuinely funny who also holds genuinely terrible views. John Cena's performance has grown more assured with each outing, and the season expands the ensemble in directions that pay off — particularly in how the show handles its more serious material without abandoning the absurdist register that defines it. The DCU connective tissue is more legible here than in Season 1, and the finale sets up the larger universe with more confidence than most soft-launch properties manage. James Gunn's strongest television work, and an unexpectedly strong argument for what the DCU can do at the street level.
PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
Where this fits in the larger story
Peacemaker Season 2 sits in DC's connected screen continuity, following Christopher Smith after his introduction through the Suicide Squad corner of the franchise. It connects covert government missions, violent antihero comedy, and larger DC consequences with a more personal look at damaged heroism. Its placement helps viewers track how smaller character-driven stories can still shape the wider DC xVERSE.
